The Davao Bloggers Society’s Heartwarming Community Drive at Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation
On July 27, 2024, the Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) demonstrated their unwavering commitment to community service through a heartwarming drive at the Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation. This initiative, filled with activities and donations, highlighted the positive impact of collaboration and compassion.
Partnering with Davao Doctors Hospital, DBS ensured the children received thorough medical check-ups, addressing their health needs comprehensively. The children were treated to delicious Jollibee meals care of Ripple8, while SM Supermalls provided water bottles. Hygiene kits, including Casino alcohol and Bioderm products from IPI, were distributed to promote cleanliness and well-being. The contribution from Red Planet Hotels included towels, acrylic tables, and electric fans. Finally, foodpanda’s generous food and logistical donations and the appearance of its character, Pau-Pau, added joy and excitement to the event.
The program, meticulously organized by DBS, featured a captivating magic show and a bookmark-making session with DBS member Olivia Limos, which entertained the children. The children also took center stage, performing dances and songs, showcasing their talents, and adding a personal touch to the event. They sang a special thank you song to DBS and its partners to cap the day.
Lalaine Cabalhog, Trustee of The Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation, expressed profound gratitude: “We are so privileged and thankful to have been the beneficiary of the Davao Bloggers Society’s community drive. We thank them all for their efforts and their partner brands for coming here. The boys appreciate these gestures, as all their donations, the program, and the check-up are a big help to their everyday living.”
DBS’s generosity extended further with donations of snacks, canned goods, cleaning materials, school supplies, medical kits, weighing scales, and toiletries. These essential items are expected to enhance the orphans’ living conditions and daily experiences significantly.
Gem Tadefa, President of DBS, shared the motivation behind the drive: “We initiated our second but first on-site community drive because the Davao Bloggers Society has received a lot of blessings for two years now, and it was time for us to give back to the community and make sure that we are also sharing our blessings because that’s what DBS is.”
Secretary Pauline Balayon-Ruta added, “We chose The Field of Dreams Children’s Charity Foundation because the charity provides shelter and care for children ages 7-19. These are neglected children who are abandoned and just need a chance in life. This is especially important to me personally because I know people who have been beneficiaries of organizations like this. You can really say that it makes a difference.”
