MILO®, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), today announced a strengthened commitment to promoting active lifestyles and sports participation among Filipino youth through the nationwide MILO® Active Pilipinas campaign.
The launch, held at Mandaue City Central School, brought together over 4,000 students, parents, teachers, and key stakeholders, including representatives from DepEd, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC). The event featured sports clinics, demonstrations, and meet-and-greets with MILO® ambassadors like six-time MILO® Marathon Queen Mary Joy Tabal and Southeast Asian Games Gold Medalist Jamie Lim.
MILO® Active Pilipinas encompasses a wide range of programs, including the National MILO® Marathon, MILO® Sports Clinics, and MILO® Barangay Liga, designed to encourage active participation and enhance physical literacy. These initiatives align with DepEd’s “Sports for All” policy, which aims to make sports accessible to all learners.
“MILO® believes that sport is a great teacher,” said Veronica Cruz, SVP and Business Executive Officer, Beverages & Confectionery, Nestlé Philippines. “Together with DepEd, PSC, and POC, we aim to foster a community of active kids equipped with the values of grit, discipline, and teamwork.”
Dr. Miguel Angelo S. Mantaring, Director VI of the Bureau of Learner Support Services of the Department of Education, emphasized the importance of providing all children with opportunities to engage in sports. “We are incredibly grateful to MILO® for their continuous support in expanding sports access,” he said.
By 2025, MILO® aims to reach three million Filipino children through expanded programs. The National MILO® Marathon will grow to 25 legs, while MILO® Sports Clinics will increase from 800 to over 1,000. Additionally, MILO® will introduce new initiatives such as MILO® Safe Swim, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, to address water safety concerns.
Beyond sports, MILO® remains committed to promoting nutrition and wellness through its fortified drink, providing essential nutrients for active lifestyles.
“MILO® is empowering Filipino children to dream bigger and achieve more,” said Carlo Sampan, Head of Sports, MILO Philippines. “Through these expanded programs, we are making sports accessible and impactful for children across the country.”
