What began as a shared passion for storytelling and connection among local bloggers has grown into one of the most dynamic and influential blogging organizations in the country. The Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) traces its humble beginnings back to before circa 2007, when a community of Davao-based bloggers came together to exchange ideas and promote local stories. But it wasn’t until December 9, 2009 that the organization officially solidified its foundation, with its first election marking the start of what we now proudly call the Davao Bloggers Society.
Through the years, DBS has stood as a beacon of community, resilience, and innovation. In 2013, we organized our first-ever relief operation for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda—a testament to how this community goes beyond blogging to create meaningful change. By 2017, DBS members gained national recognition, with members receiving invitations from brands to attend prestigious events and travel beyond Davao, showcasing the undeniable influence of the organization.
Even in the face of challenges, like the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, DBS proved its resilience. With in-person events on hold, the DBS Hangouts began, fostering connection among members despite the distance and keeping the community alive during uncertain times.
In 2023, a milestone was achieved, DBS became SEC and BIR registered, solidifying its place not just as a community but as a professional organization. With this recognition, opportunities poured in. Members were invited to travel both domestically and internationally, represent Davao in high-profile events, and bring the stories of our region to larger platforms.
As we celebrate 15 years, we honor the moments, milestones, and members who made this journey possible. From grassroots beginnings to national recognition, from local blogging meetups to international travel opportunities—DBS has become a shining example of what passion, teamwork, and vision can achieve.
Here’s to the next 15 years of connecting, inspiring, and thriving together.
