COMCO Mundo Celebrates Global IABC Gold Quill Agency of the Year Win with Inaugural Purple Ball

COMCO Mundo proudly marked its triumph at the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill Awards 2024 with the inaugural Purple Ball: COMCO’s Gold Victory Celebration, held at the F1 Hotel in Bonifacio Global City.

The COMCO Mundo Squadron gathered to honor the agency’s outstanding achievement as the first from the Philippines and Southeast Asia to win the coveted Agency of the Year (Mid-Size Agency) award during the 2024 Gold Quill Awards held in Chicago, USA. Additionally, COMCO Mundo is the sole consultancy from the Asia-Pacific region included in this year’s prestigious Best of the Best and Special Award Winners categories.

A Milestone in Communications Excellence

Receiving the Agency of the Year recognition highlights COMCO Mundo’s significant impact and dedication to excellence not only in the Asia-Pacific but on a global scale. The agency continues to collaborate with both local and international brands, leveraging its unique approach to #MeaningfulStorytelling. The Gold Quill Awards honor the agencies with the highest-rated entries, establishing them as the Global Best of the Best and Special Award Winners. Notably, this is the first time a Filipino and Southeast Asian agency has earned this prestigious accolade since the awards began in 2008.

Celebrating Partnerships and Achievements

The evening also featured ceremonial awards to COMCO Mundo and its partner organizations, recognizing excellence in various categories. Highlights included awards for Corporate Social Responsibility and Climate Change and Sustainability Communication for the Century Tuna “Saving Our Seas” Initiative, as well as achievements in Digital Communication and Social Media for the UNMASKED: COMCO Mundo Write to Ignite Initiative Season 3. COMCO Mundo also received accolades for its Camp COMCO Mentorship Program, underscoring its commitment to communication training and education.

A Testament to Filipino Excellence

Ms. Ritzi Villarico-Ronquillo, Chair of the IABC Gold Quill Awards’ Blue Ribbon Panel, expressed her pride in COMCO Mundo’s achievements, stating, “A long time ago, we had a dream… COMCO made it a reality. Not only for every Filipino communicator but also for our country and the next generation.” She emphasized the importance of showcasing Filipino excellence on the global stage.

Vision and Growth

Group Chief Executive Director Ferdinand L. Bondoy reflected on the agency’s journey since its founding in 2016, stating, “The 1st Purple Ball is a celebration of our accomplishments and the growth of our amazing team. This honor represents our commitment to craftsmanship excellence, community culture, and meaningful storytelling.”

In 2023, COMCO Mundo was also recognized as the Medium PR Consultancy of the Year by the Public Relations and Communications Association Asia-Pacific (PRCA-APAC) for its innovative community leadership efforts. Additionally, earlier this year, COMCO Middle East & Africa earned accolades from Caterer Middle East’s F&B PR Power List 2024.
