They say that revenge is sweet. Indeed, it is, after the Davao Bloggers Society celebrated its yearly Christmas party in a fun and memorable fashion.
It has been almost three years since the Davao Bloggers have been bogged down by the Covid-19 pandemic, and we’re thankful that 2022 was a fruitful year. Everything slowly got back to normal, so we had meet-ups, face-to-face campaigns, and the revenge bonding that we’ve been yearning. Thus, rekindling our relationships with our partners and co-bloggers.
To culminate the year 2022, the Davao Bloggers Society held its most anticipated event of the year: the Christmas Gathering of the DBS members. On December 17, 2022, the Davao Bloggers officers have organized the first face-to-face Christmas dinner after two years of doing it virtually.
Since almost everyone in the world is doing their revenge travels, gatherings, and shopping, we kept the event simple, so as not to add more stress to the hectic Christmas schedule of our fellow members. Despite its intimacy and simplicity, the 2022 DBS Cottagecore Christmas Dinner was a lot of enjoyment, significance, and surprises!
Games and Surprises
The party started with the first game which was “Guess the Christmas Song with a Twist.” The players had a hard time naming the titles of the Christmas songs, especially since they were read, instead of played. They were also surprised because the game featured the talented, fun, and unexpected voices of some Davao Bloggers who weren’t able to attend. Some of the members’ voices were twisted, and distracted the game players, which made the game more fun and challenging! Emman’s group won the game, and each member received 200PHP gift certificates.
The second game was entitled “Rock, Paper, Scissors — Battle of the Champions.” Each participant was given an ampao envelope with money inside. They then played rock, paper, scissors, and the winner got the ampao of their challenger and moved on to the next round. The final winner, Andrew Dela Cerna, kept all the ampao to himself, plus a Christmas snack bag.
Several raffle draws were conducted after every game, dinner, and other activity, with prizes from our generous sponsors Metrobank, PLDT, Smart, Realme, and Cebu Pacific. Nep-c, Emman, and Andrew won 500php-loaded Starbucks cards each, Athina and Josef won Dizo pods from Realme, Clea and Jade won domestic roundtrip tickets care of Cebu Pacific. For the grand draw, Jim was delivered a De’Longhi Coffee Maker worth 15,000PHP, from Metrobank.
Like in several homes and workplaces, a Kris Kringle gift exchange is a yearly tradition of the Davao Bloggers Society, but it was only in 2022 that it happened again. It was much better because everyone who attended the dinner joined in and made an effort to buy gifts for their manitos and manitas.
The Best Dressed Award
When the games were over, it was time to announce one of the most anticipated parts of every Davao Bloggers Christmas party program: the announcement of the Best Dressed individual.
Cottagecore fashion is already considered a basic style in 2022, and modern neutral-colored outfits and flowery dresses can be easilly adapted to it. However, it was Jade Factura who went a step ahead of the crowd by donning cottagecore’s most Western and cottagey essentials: the vintage beret cap, tassel shoes, belt, and suspenders in brown and cream color combination.
The Final Activities
By the end of the dinner, the Davao Bloggers Society members gave honor and gratitude to the strong bond that we have with each other and our partners through a celebratory toast, headed by DBS founder and HR, Andrew Dela Cerna.
After the program was finished, the party still had an hour of our rented place to spare. We were surprised and delighted that most attendees stayed and bonded with each other. We were talking until I, the content director, said that we sing, and so Gem, the party’s main organizer and emcee stood up and turned on the karaoke machine.
We enjoyed the night further after most attendees waited for their turn and sang the night away with either their chosen songs or the songs suggested by DBS incumbent president, Roxanne, and other members. It was the very first DBS Karaoke afterparty!
The Davao Bloggers Society’s Christmas Dinner 2022 was a night that is forever etched in our hearts. As seen in our endless smiles in the photos, we were all so happy and grateful for the event and the year 2022. The Christmas Dinner was a sweet revenge, indeed, after almost 3 years of partying only virtually. The Davao Bloggers Society looks forward to 2023 and continues creating meaningful content.
