While they say that Filipino food is not exactly one of the most revered in the world, we Pinoys could only boast about it. We don’t understand why until now, it’s not the most popular ones, unlike Japanese, French, and the most trending ones today like Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese, because we love our own food, and it cannot be matched at all. Whatever the world says, we Pinoys know that we have the best. It’s just that it didn’t reach their pallets yet.
To celebrate our beloved cuisine, our pride, some of the Davao Bloggers Society members shared their favorite Pinoy food, especially those that are uniquely ours.
Pinoy delicacy, Suman
My favorite Filipino delicacy is suman. It is made of glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk, wrapped in banana leaf then steamed. It is my comfort food during raining season and it is always perfect with a cup of sikwate, the pinoy version of hot chocolate.
To level up my kakanin experience, I opted for the suman ube con quezo. So delicious and mouth watering every time. You can also try it with chocolate and latik inside. ?

Street food fave, fried chicken skin
Here’s something that’s obviously unhealthy but yours truly can never resist – chicken skin! I remember having my first taste of chicken skin back in college from a street vendor near our school. I was curious, bought a small brown pack at 3 pesos and it has become my favorite ever since. Then I started eating more streetfood like isaw, proben etc and loved these as well.
Even up to this day, eating streetfood with pastil rice has become one of my favorite go-to merienda meals during work days. And as for the chicken skin, still my favorite!

Sampaloc Candy and Pinoy Polvoron
One of my childhood favorites is the “Sampaloc” candy. I used to buy plenty of this at our school canteen. I love it because of the sweet and sour taste. Great combo!
I also enjoy the Pinoy favorite, polvoron because I am fond of sweets! I even tried making them and it was a success. My current favorite is the one from Goldilocks.
